A fresh dispute has erupted within the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) as a coalition of its pressure groups accused the Director-General, Hon. Aminu Suleiman, of sidelining thousands of support groups that worked for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in 2023.
In a statement signed by Dr. Aminu Gwandu, TSO National Director of Support Groups, and Hon. Usman Ali Maitsidau, North-West Zonal Coordinator, the faction alleged that the DG had turned the organisation into a personal structure, shutting out coordinators who mobilised resources during the campaign.
They claimed that Suleiman secured two federal appointments for himself as a Board Member of the North-West Development Commission (NWDC) and as Chairman of the Governing Council, Federal Technical College, Kaena, Nasarawa State — without acknowledging the wider network that supported the election effort.
The group alleged that the DG altered the organisation’s structure without consulting national, zonal or state coordinators. They insisted that TSO’s campaign activities in 2023 were self-funded by members, including transportation, accommodation and mobilisation, contrary to claims that Suleiman sponsored the operations.
They questioned his leadership, asking how many national, zonal or state meetings he convened during the election cycle. They warned that the 2027 elections would require stronger coordination and inclusive leadership.
They appealed to President Tinubu to recognise the contributions of grassroots volunteers, stressing that political victories are driven by people, not titles.
However, the Assistant National Secretary of TSO, Barr. Usman Yakubu, dismissed the allegations, describing the group as unknown to the organisation.
In a statement titled “Rebuttal and Disclaimer,” he said the claims did not represent the views of legitimate TSO members.
Yakubu maintained that TSO remains united under Suleiman’s leadership, adding that the DG has consistently carried coordinators across states and the diaspora along.
He noted that Suleiman continues to work for the benefit of members despite holding no elective office.
The development comes a day after a separate forum of ex-lawmakers distanced themselves from a reported endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term, signalling widening tensions among support platforms ahead of 2027.
