Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recovered about ₦37 million and several mobile phones during a routine checkpoint stop in Borno State, security sources said.

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, spokesperson for the theatre command fighting Boko Haram in the North-East, confirmed the seizure in Maiduguri on Monday.

Soldiers at the Forward Operating Base Chabbal intercepted a vehicle carrying five passengers, uncovering bags containing the cash and phones, which officials said were linked to Boko Haram’s financing networks.

The operation follows recent engagements in Pulka and Madara–Girau, where suspected ISWAP fighters’ movements were disrupted. Troops have since stepped up patrols along key supply routes to restrict insurgent activities in the region.

Military sources added that on 16 February, Sector 1 troops, working with local vigilantes, staged a night ambush along a route used by insurgents from the Cameroon border.

The suspects fled, leaving behind supplies believed intended for further operations.

Investigations into the seized funds and devices are ongoing.
