In a move aimed at easing the hardship faced by vulnerable members of the community, the Executive Director (Operations) of the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), Alhaji Abdussalam Yahaya Ahmed, has personally sponsored a palliative distribution for disadvantaged residents in Gombe Local Government Area.
The humanitarian outreach, held at the Resource Centre in Gombe, brought together beneficiaries from different parts of the local government who gathered to receive support items meant to assist them in meeting their basic needs.
Among those who benefited from the intervention were persons living with disabilities, orphans and other less privileged individuals within the community. The items distributed included foodstuffs, clothing and other essential materials.

Coordinating the program in Gombe LGA, Alhaji Auwal Umar explained that the initiative was part of Abdussalam’s personal effort to support vulnerable people and provide some relief to families struggling with economic challenges.He noted that the gesture reflects Abdussalam’s concern for the wellbeing of ordinary citizens and his desire to give back to society.
“We are grateful to Alhaji Abdussalam for reaching out to the needy through this initiative. His support will go a long way in helping vulnerable individuals who require assistance at this time,” Umar said.

He added that the distribution was carefully organized to ensure that the items were fairly allocated to deserving beneficiaries.Also speaking during the event, the program’s supervisor described the intervention as a commendable act of generosity that would positively impact many households.
“This kind gesture demonstrates compassion and commitment to supporting the less privileged in society,” the supervisor said while expressing appreciation to Abdussalam for the effort.
The event attracted a number of community stakeholders, including traditional title holders, religious leaders from both Islamic and Christian communities, as well as representatives of security agencies who were present to observe the exercise and ensure orderliness.

Some beneficiaries who spoke expressed gratitude for the assistance, noting that the support would help ease some of the difficulties faced by their families.They also offered prayers for the sponsor, asking God to bless and strengthen him so that he can continue assisting those in need.
