Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has officially launched the 2026 dry season farming programme in Akuyam District, Misau Local Government Area, providing farmers with implements and seedlings to boost production.
The launch highlights the state government’s focus on agriculture as a driver of economic growth.
Governor Mohammed noted that Bauchi remains a key contributor to food production in the North-East and across Nigeria, and encouraged residents to take up farming as a central part of the state’s economy.

The Governor also urged local government chairmen to work closely with traditional leaders to tackle security challenges that affect farming activities in rural communities.
Dr Iliyasu Aliyu Gital, Commissioner of Agriculture, said Bauchi State has the potential to feed the North-East sub-region and significantly contribute to national food security.

The programme attracted local government officials, state legislators, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries, who observed the distribution of seedlings and farm equipment, and expressed support for the government’s agricultural initiatives.
