Defence Minister, retired General Christopher Musa, has acknowledged that Nigeria is undergoing a difficult period due to multiple security challenges but expressed confidence that the country will ultimately prevail.
Speaking at an interdenominational thanksgiving service in Abuja to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, Musa said the nation continues to confront terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities. However, he praised the dedication and resilience of the armed forces and other security agencies, assuring Nigerians that their sacrifices would lead to victory.
He also noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to ensuring that security agencies are properly equipped, motivated, and supported to carry out their constitutional responsibilities effectively.
At the same event, a cleric, Most Rev. Uche Dan Okafor, urged members of the Nigerian armed forces to remain loyal to democratic governance and avoid any attempt to destabilize the country, unlike recent developments in some West African nations.
Musa paid tribute to fallen heroes and commended serving personnel and their families for their courage and continued sacrifices.
